Competition groups have been halved

At dawn only 6 Gordon Bennett teams and 6 America’s Challenge teams were still aloft, scattered over Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. During the night the Swiss team Krebs / Vollenweider, the Austrian team Stürzlinger / Fürstner and the American team Cayton / Suskin decided to land.

GER-3 (Eimers / Seel), SWI-1 (Stoll / Mattenberger) and BEL-2 (Van Havere / Van Geyte) are crossing Lake Superior. BEL-1 is flying over Lake Michigan at this moment.

GER-1 (Höhl / Handl) is still over land, and so are all the remaining competitors of the America’s Challenge. Hempleman-Adams and Mason are the only ones that seem to have chosen for an different strategy; apparently they’re trying to fly north around the large lakes … or at least to score a larger distance by flying to the north.
